Salary & Work Schedule
Starting pay: $18.00/hr (scaleable based on experience)
Part-time/Seasonal (April-September)
Hours vary/Flexibility desired

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the Los Ranchitos Cabana Club
  • Actively surveil the pool area, looking for hazards and monitoring the safety of swimmers
  • Perform water rescue, and administer First Aid/CPR or Automated External Defibrillation (AED), when necessary
  • Know and enforce the pool rules consistently and fairly
  • Assist patrons with problems or concerns in a prompt, respectful and professional manner
  • Immediately inform the Aquatics Director of any problems with patrons or staff that cannot be immediately resolved
  • Assist with accidents and injuries as directed and complete proper incident and accident reports in detail
  • Ensure a professional appearance of the facility, including keeping the pool area, deck, office, and restrooms clean
  • Ensure a professional demeanor and appearance by arriving to work on time, in uniform and ready to work
  • Check-in members and take payment for snack items during Adult Swim.
  • Monitor supplies (cleaning supplies, drinks, popsicles, etc.) and communicate purchasing needs to the Aquatics Director
  • Maintains the pool and grounds as directed by Facilities Director, including but not limited to:
    *checking and recording water chemistry every two hours,
    *filling the pool if necessary, and
    *removing leaves/debris from water
  • Promptly report any issues with water chemistry or equipment to Facilities Director
  • Perform opening and closing duties including:
    *raising & lowering the flag,
    *inspecting grounds,
    *opening/closing umbrellas,
    *removing trash and tidying up the pool area
  • Be familiar with the Emergency Action Plan
  • Greet Party hosts, collect waivers & add’l guest fees, review clean up list with Party host, change reservation signs
  • Attend staff meetings and in‐service training
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Environment & Physical Demands
Physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must be able to swim at least 300 yards and tread water for 2 minutes
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds or more.
  • The pool can be a noisy and dynamic environment.
  • Exposure to natural weather conditions that may vary from extreme sun to cold, wet, rainy and windy conditions.
  • You will be expected to stand and walk for long periods of time as you actively surveil the pool and swimmers

Certification Requirements
*Current and valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
*First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certification.

*Valid work permit (if under 18 years of age)
